The Harmony of the Elements:
Philosophical and Technical Perspectives from Antiquity to the Renaissance
We are delighted to announce our workshop titled “The Harmony of the Elements: Philosophical and Technical Perspectives from Antiquity to the Renaissance”, which will take place in Bologna over two full days, November 30th and December 1st, 2023.
This workshop is designed to explore the diverse developments and applications of the theory of the elements within philosophical and technical literature, spanning from Antiquity to the early Renaissance. Considering the theory’s widespread diffusion and its crucial significance for philosophy and science, our goal is to unravel its intricate history, shedding light on the various contexts in which the theory has emerged and on the interplay of influences between these contexts.
