SUMMARY:Religion and Archaeology: Actors, Sites and Practices (19th and 20th centuries)
LOCATION:Archives de sciences sociales des religions
DESCRIPTION:Religious institutions and actors are among the key players in the producti
on of archaeological knowledge and in heritage preservation processes. Howe
ver, studies on the involvement of  religious actors who are not Christian
remain very rare. Furthermore, regardless of the context, the role of relig
ion in archaeological practice and, conversely, the effects of archaeology
on religious practices, functions, and beliefs remain largely unexplored in
scholarly analysis. This special issue thus aims to highlight and analyze
the interactions between the fields of religion and archaeology in the 19th
and 20th centuries, whether in a national or transnational context. It enc
ourages examination of the relationships among the various actors (both ind
ividual and collective, secular and religious) who engage in and produce ar
chaeological knowledge. You can find the full call for papers here https://
calenda.org/1430759 Authors must submit a title and a proposal of 500 to 1,
