 nce has long held a strong position at the department, and today several re
 searchers and teachers work with topics related to the history of science i
 n both research and education. To further strengthen this environment, we a
 re now announcing the Hans Rausing Professorship in the History of Science.
  The professorship was established in 2001 through a endowment from Lisbet 
 Rausing.\nDescription of the subject area of the position: The announcement
  concerns research and teaching in history of science.\n\nDutiesThe holder 
 of the position is expected to conduct independent research within the hist
 ory of science, understood as a broad, dynamic and open field connected wit
 h related areas of research. The duties also include taking the initiative 
 for, planning, and leading major research projects as well as actively appl
 ying for research funding for both their own and others’ research. Another 
 task included in the position is teaching and supervision at all levels of 
 education. The holder is furthermore expected to collaborate with external 
 actors and to communicate their activities in a broader public context outs
 ide the department. In their research, the holder is also expected to colla
 borate with researchers at the department working in fields other than the 
 history of science. The person appointed must also be prepared to assume va
 rious types of leadership assignments at the departmental level as well as 
 at other levels within Uppsala University. Administrative duties form part 
 of the position. The research component normally comprises about 50% of the
  position (including research administration); teaching, supervision, and c
 ourse development make up the remaining 50% (including teaching administrat
 ion).\n\nEligibility requirementsTo be eligible for appointment as professo
 r, the applicant must have demonstrated both scholarly and pedagogical exce
 llence (Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4, Section 3). Scholarly excell
 ence must have been demonstrated through independent research achievements 
 within the subject area of the appointment. The pedagogical, scholarly, and
  professional skills must be relevant to the subject content and duties of 
 the position.\nApplicants must have completed ten weeks of higher education
  teaching training relevant for work within the university or have acquired
